Black Authors Spotlight
My Magical Mind Books proudly celebrates Black authors who are creating captivating stories for children, young readers, and adult fiction audiences. This section highlights recently published authors and their incredible books for readers who want to support their work.
Dr. LaMonica Davis Taylor is an accomplished board-certified pediatric dentist, author, entrepreneur, and community advocate whose work continues to make a meaningful impact on children and families throughout Mississippi.
A diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Taylor is the owner of Smiles on Broadway Dental Care in Jackson, Mississippi. Her commitment to improving children’s oral health extends far beyond the walls of her dental practice. She has also worked to expand access to care through mobile dental services designed to reach children in underserved communities throughout the Mississippi Delta.
Dr. Taylor has now extended her passion for educating and encouraging children into the literary world with The Tooth Be Told Collection. Her books combine oral health education, positive messages, engaging activities, and relatable stories created to help children develop healthier habits while building confidence.
The collection includes the storybook Tooth Be Told, I Cracked My Crown, along with educational coloring and activity books designed to make learning about dental health fun and approachable for young readers.
Through dentistry, community service, entrepreneurship, and children's literature, Dr. LaMonica Davis Taylor continues to use her platform to educate, empower, and inspire the next generation.

Dr. Crystal Biggs, widely known by her pen name Mz. Biggs, is a Mississippi native, national bestselling urban romance author, licensed master social worker, and publisher.
With a catalog of more than 40 books, Mz. Biggs has built a strong literary presence through stories centered on urban romance, emotional drama, complicated relationships, and real life struggles. Her writing is known for bold characters, intense storylines, and the kind of twists that keep readers turning the page.
Among her many works are A Boss and a Hood Chick, Love on Every Curve, Twisted Desires for the Love of a Goon, and Pregnant by My Best Friend’s Husband. Her work has earned her a devoted readership and recognition within the urban fiction and romance community.
In addition to being an accomplished author, Dr. Biggs is the founder and owner of Biggs Publishing Group, LLC, where she has expanded her passion for storytelling into publishing and supporting literary work beyond her own.
Outside of publishing, Dr. Biggs is also a licensed master social worker, bringing together her commitment to people, storytelling, education, and community impact.
Through both her professional career and her writing, Dr. Crystal Biggs continues to represent Mississippi authorship with creativity, ambition, and purpose.

Addie E. Citchens is a Mississippi Delta born writer whose work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Paris Review, Oxford American, and other literary publications. A graduate of Jackson State University, she became the inaugural recipient of the Farrar, Straus and Giroux Writer’s Fellowship. Her debut novel, Dominion, was released in August 2025 and centers on a prominent Black family in a fictional Mississippi town, exploring family, faith, power, womanhood, and the consequences of patriarchy.

Jasmine L. Holmes is a writer, educator, and public historian based in Jackson, Mississippi. Her work focuses heavily on bringing overlooked Black history and personal narratives into the light. Her books include Carved in Ebony, Mother to Son, and Crowned With Glory. Her 2025 release, Yonder Come Day: Exploring the Collective Witness of the Formerly Enslaved, draws from thousands of recorded interviews with formerly enslaved people to create an accessible and powerful collective narrative of their experiences.
